Zocor® is an HGG CoA reductase inhibitor. Zorcor® blocks the production of cholesterol in the body. Zorcor® can be used to reduce the amounts of cholesterol, LDL (the bad kind of cholesterol), triglycerides (another type of fat), and apolipoprotein B (a protein needed to make cholesterol) in your blood. Zorcor® is also used to treat HDL, the good kind of cholesterol.
Do not take the prescription drug Zocor® without first talking to your doctor if you have liver disease. Before taking the prescription drug Zorcor®, tell your doctor if you have had kidney disease, drank alcohol, have chronic muscular disease, or have a blood disorder. If you have any of these conditions, the prescription drug Zocor® might not be right for you. Only you and you doctor can decide if the prescription drug Zocor® is right for you.
Rare side effects of the prescription drug Zocor® can include: cases of muscle problems and liver problems, unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, unexplained fatigue, dark colored urine or pale colored stools. If you experience any of these side effects, or other side effects not listed here, while taking Zocor®, you should contact you physician immediately.
Side effects are difficult to predict. Some side effects are normal, while other side effects are not. Always discuss any side effects you are experiencing while taking any prescription medication, including the prescription drug Zocor®, with your doctor.
Zocor® overdose symptoms include: nausea, diarrhea, stomach distress, and indigestion. If you believe you have overdosed on the prescription drug Zocor®, contact your doctor immediately.
You should avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking Zocor®. Zocor® and alcohol can be damaging to your liver. You should only drink in moderation while taking Zocor®. Before taking the prescription drug Zocor®, let your doctor know if you plan to drink alcohol.
